About

1. I’m from Bowling Green, Ohio and I live in Onset, Massachusetts. I received a BFA from Bowling Green State University in 2019.

2. The central topic of my artwork is obsession.

3. In particular, I am interested in expressing the confounded and reversed subject/object relationship that defines obsession; the state of compulsion and possession that exerts itself on the obsessor. Modernism’s myth of the Living Painting, where the artist is conceived of as a conduit or partner of the art in realizing itself, aligns to this understanding of obsession.

4. My paintings and drawings often depict scenes where actors relent to a compelling force. And that moment of sublimating the conscious to a fantasy version of desire is repeated throughout my artwork.

5. As a function and exploration of obsession, my artmaking process involves a great deal of erasure and recomposition. Likewise, I repeatedly depict the same figures and visual motifs within individual pieces as well as across my body of work.

6. Thank you for taking an interest in what I am doing.
